Dariia had started giving birth Sunday november 20 early in the morning, and she did so very quietly as well. When I woke up at 07:30-ish I heard nothing, but found her hidden between clothes with two adorable little babies. I transferred her and her two kittens to the transporting cage I had made ready for the happy occasion and waited for the other kittens to be born.
For more than two hours Dariia was having contractions and nothing came. So I called the weekend vet and went to him with mother and children to see what needed to be done. Dariia had one dead kitten in her womb, so the vet decided to do a Ceasarian and neuter her in the same go, as she was bleeding severely. My little girl was having a really hard time and needed the help, so this was the way it had to be done.
2½ Hours later Dariia had woken up enough to go home, so we went home, two little babies richer then we came with. The third born kitten was identical to the fourth, but for the heart that wasn't beating.

In the night that followed I woke up every 2 hours to renew the warm water bottle in the kittens' "sleeping quarters" and at Dariias' sleeping place as well. Only at 6 in the morning she started to become her self again, and a few hours later she was able to take care of her little ones all by herself. I was so relieved she came through well, even if it had taken more than 12 hours. She took to her kittens immediately and has taken care of them since that moment. She is a good mother!!

At first big sister Nadezhda was not very keen on her mother having new babies. She didn't want to be in our bed room where Dariia was staying (because her mother Clava was living there at that moment by her own choice) but after one week she decided kittens were fun and great and having a  little sister and 2 baby brothers  was a lot of fun, so she went in and didn't want to come out. I had to limit the time she spent with her mother and the babies, because the little ones wouldn't get enough room to drink and grow....

Poor Nadezhda!!

December 20, 2011 two friends came to visit us and the kittens and took a lot of great pictures. The kittens had been living in our bed room untill that day, so they have some  shyness showing in their little faces.

That same night we had to transfer the kittens with their mommy to our living room due to their sudden interest in the big world....
And then: "on the first day of Christmas....

The next morning they were out of the bench and roaming our living room!
